Feed your B9 Audi A4/A5 turbo with a supply of cold air with this direct-fit high-flow cold air intake kit. This intake features a generously-sized inlet pipe that connects to the OE mass air flow (MAF) sensor. The MAF sensor receives high-velocity air fed directly from a 5" bellmouth. Our high-flow bellmouth is neatly housed in a heat shield, which separates the air filter from hot under-hood air, allowing only cold air to be drawn in to the turbo inlet directly from the front of the car.
This air intake kit provides all the necessary piping and couplers to plumb the intake system from the turbo to the heat shield. The heat shield installs using the OE grommets for easy maintenance and reliable mounting with no rubbing or interference with other factory parts.
The air intake utilizes a high-flow bellmouth behind the air filter to deliver as much air as possible. This bellmouth design increases the air velocity to the engine and pulls cold air equally from all directions into the filter. This bellmouth is securely fastened to the heat shield as a clean pass-through providing a solid mount for the air filter and turbo inlet pipe. You have no worry of the intake pipe moving around and causing damage unlike other intake kits on the market, which simply clamp the filter onto the end of the inlet pipe. Furthermore, the bellmouth opening allows for a filter with a very large surface area that can support any horsepower goal. The same filter and bellmouth design has been tested to support over 500HP on our twin-scroll big turbo kits with huge success.
COLD AIR HEAT SHIELD
The IE heat shield is designed to create a thermal barrier blocking all of the radiant heat from the engine bay. Only cold air from the front of the vehicle is drawn into the filter from the opening in the radiator support keeping air intake temperatures as cold as possible. This allows factory placement of the intake to be used without placing the filter lower in the vehicle where it can be subjected to engine harming road debris or fluid.
-When is the best time to upgrade to the IE High-Flow Intake?
The IE Audi B9 High-Flow Cold Air Intake is designed as an upgrade for cars at any point, from factory and up. This is a very popular modification for Stage 1 tunes, and is required for most Stage 2 tunes and up.
-What all is included with the IE High-Flow Intake?
The intake kit includes the direct-fit heat shield & bellmouth, air filter, inlet pipe, and all install hardware including heavy duty black silicone hoses, and hose clamps.
-Is there any modification required to install the IE High-Flow Intake?
No! The IE intake kit is a direct replacement for the applications listed above. There is no trimming, cutting, or modification needed for installation and the vehicle can be put back to stock at any time.
-What kind of power increase will I see with the IE High-Flow Intake?
Power increase is dependent on the turbo setup and the boost levels that you are running. The larger the turbo setup and the higher the boost pressure, the larger the gains will be with the IE intake kit.
-How much horsepower will the IE High-Flow Intake support?
The bellmouth, air filter, and heat shield included in this kit has been designed after our IE450T twin-scroll big turbo kit, and has been tested to support over 500hp successfully with room to grow. The air inlet pipe and silicone in this kit is designed to flow perfectly with the factory housing and turbocharger.
